Turkey Breakfast Sausage

Two years ago my family did Dr. Mark Hyman’s 10 Day Detox Diet. I admit some of the days were rough, but for the most part the food was great. This year we did the detox again. I was thrilled when I found out Dr. Hyman had a new 10 Day Detox Diet cookbook. With more choices, I was able to find recipes the whole family could enjoy. This turkey sausage recipe is one of our favorites. We can eat this as often as we like and not feel guilty. With the only ingredients being organic ground turkey, avocado oil, and spices this recipe is super healthy and easy to make. It’s a perfect way to get your protein and healthy fat first thing each day.

 

Turkey Sausage

 

Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

2 ½ tsp fennel seeds

2 tsp italian seasoning

1 tsp sweet paprika

1/2 tsp crushed red pepper

1/2 tsp sea salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1 tbsp avocado oil or grapeseed oil

 

Directions:

Mix all ingredients fully in a glass bowl. You may want to use your hands to do this so that all of the spices are evenly distributed. Divide the mixture into 8 equal parts and form into patties. I love using my cast iron skillet for this recipe, but any non stick skillet will work. Heat the oil in the skillet over medium high heat until the oil is warm. Sauté the patties on each side, flattening the patties with a stainless steel spatula a few times. Cook until brown and the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.  

 

I usually double or triple this recipe. The patties freeze well and heat up nicely.
